I've been building websites for over ten years, and the thing that's never changed is the bit I care about most - making sure what gets built actually works hard for the person paying for it. A gorgeous site that loads slowly or doesn't show up when someone searches for you? That's not a website, that's a fancy business card nobody asked for.
Lately, I've become properly obsessed with AI and what it means for small businesses. Not in a "the robots are coming" way - more in a "this is genuinely going to change how people find you, and we should be ready" way. The tools are moving fast, and I spend a lot of my time working out how to use them so our clients get more for their money. Better results, less waste. That's the goal, always.
I'm a natural optimiser. I like finding the smartest route from A to B - the one that doesn't need a massive budget or six months of faffing about. Most local businesses don't have bottomless pockets, and they shouldn't need them. There's almost always a way to get you found without spending a fortune, and I genuinely enjoy figuring out what that is.
When I'm not deep in code or reading about whatever Google has changed this week, I'm usually browsing vintage stores or out on a long walk somewhere. Both are good for clearing your head - and occasionally you find something brilliant.
Let's Taco Bout It
Tex-Mex takeaway in Ripley. Genuinely brilliant, and worth the drive.
